Born and raised in the southern Louisiana community of Bayou Chicot, James Dupré grew up listening to his parent’s favorite artists, including Randy Travis, The Eagles, James Taylor, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr., and James' all-time favorite, Vince Gill. He always loved to sing, but was reserved until college, when he joined a church group and started playing in front of larger crowds. After college, James kept his music ambitions while following his father’s footsteps to become an EMT Paramedic with Acadian Ambulance Service, where he still works today to support his wife and three young boys.
James always had a dream to become a musician, or perhaps a meteorologist. One night in early 2007 he decided to post a few cover songs on his YouTube channel, just to see if people would like his voice. He soon became a household name – all around the world. From Finland to the Philippines, across the US and Canada, each video James posted gathered thousands of comments and led to a following of loving, loyal fans worldwide. Soon, requests for songs turned into requests for live shows and an album.
Humbled, inspired and committed to turning his dream into reality, James began working with manager David Batten, who helped him start playing gigs in local bars and festivals. The two soon developed connections with world-renowned producers Kyle Lehning and Jerry Douglas, who realized James’ genuine talent and outstanding voice. Working independently, the team put together James Dupré’s debut album, “It’s All Happening”, credited to his family, friends, and incredibly supportive viewers.
