James Dupré, named one of “10 Country Artists You Need to Know,” by Rolling Stone Magazine, possesses an exceptionally stellar, pitch perfect, baritone voice and has spent a great deal of time sharing that voice with his fans on social media platforms like YouTube, where today he is edging toward 11 million views. The former EMT-Paramedic is a Bayou Chicot, Louisiana native who currently lives in Nashville.
In September of 2019, James was handpicked by Randy and Mary Travis to be the voice delivering Randy Travis’ 16 Number One career songs on a 12 city tour in the U.S. The Music of Randy Travis tour is making theater stops in the southeast, including the legendary Mother Church of Country Music, The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.
One might think that it all started when millions of viewers saw James get the highly coveted 4-chair turn, earning a spot with Adam Levine’s team on NBC’s The Voice, but this was not his first taste of fame. Before The Voice, James’ high visibility on YouTube captured the attention of Ellen DeGeneres, landing him a guest appearance on The Ellen Show. This national exposure was followed by the release of his album, Stoned to Death, produced by Jordan Lehning (Kacey Musgraves, Rodney Crowell). The album rendered the successful Billboard Indicator charting single by the same name, as well as over a million streams to date. James co-wrote the majority of the tracks on the album.
In 2018, James wed his long-time love, Kelsie Menard, in Louisiana. Friend and mentor Randy Travis, along with his wife, Mary, were in attendance at their wedding, adding to the special day. In addition to four sons from his previous marriage, James and Kelsie recently announced they are expecting their first child together, a girl, due any day now!
“Another Love Song,” co-written by James, is his current radio single, recorded with Grammy nominated producer, Matt McClure (Lee Brice). Fans can look forward to a new project with additional new material in 2020.
James is a CMA member and a BMI affiliate.
